What About Shaofei?

Early Years
My life started in Jinan, China the capital of Shandong province and the "City of Springs". Growing up in China in the 90's i witnessed and experienced the economical and culture change in China. Personally, my family went from a small one bedroom apartment passed down by the government to a three bedroom apartment reimbursed by corporations. These were times of great changes in a person's life, however it did not end there for me.

Elementary School and Middle School Years
In 1997 my family immigrated from China to Los Angeles, California. Frankly speaking, I did not know a single word of English when I arrived. I did not even know how to introduce myself the first day of school. However, due to the large Asian communities in Los Angeles I did not find life uncomfortable, in fact it was great! If i recall correctly, I learned most of my english through playing Dragonball trading card with a kid name Brent.

High School Years
High School was atleast to say... a time of confusion and panic. It seems like every person had to choose a little circle of people they call friend. It's quite amusing now come to think about it, the mind set of high school teenager. Some trends I remember was the front bang haircut popular back in the day among Asian youth in Los Angeles, using stapler to staple the end of black jeans so they are really baggy, and putting fat shoe laces on shoes. I joined Arcadia High school Track and Field Team as a hurdler, I would like to join the basketball team but being 5'5" didn't help much under the hoop. Needless to say the Track days were some of the most memorable memories of High School, and almost all by best friends were teammates from Track.
I also joined the school Academic Decathlon team as I thought it would look good on my High School transcript, good times, but a bit too much reading for my taste.

College
Choosing which college to attending was not difficult for me, as i always wanted to go somewhere far from home. Purdue University was one of the first to accept me so that's where i ended up. I am set to graduate in May 2010.

Hobbies
I enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, Surfing, Mountain Biking, Road biking, and Backpacking to name just a few. I also enjoy traveling; I have traveled pretty much all areas of China and part of Mongolia. I just received my American passport so more traveling ensured. I am also an active member on www.couchsurfing.org  feel free to message me.
Other than that I enjoy cooking, not just to show off to the ladies but more to satisfy my curiosity of culinary culture.
